The Legend of Zelda is much more than just a video game to me. It’s the very first title that drew me into the magical world of Hyrule, where everything began. Released in 1986 in Japan as Hyrule Fantasy: The Legend of Zelda, it quickly adopted its final name to avoid confusion with Final Fantasy. This legendary game later arrived in the U.S. in 1986 and in Europe in 1987, leaving a lasting mark on the history of retro gaming on Nintendo.
In this first installment of The Legend of Zelda, I play Link, a brave young hero tasked with an epic mission: to recover the fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom in order to save the kingdom of Hyrule and rescue Princess Zelda, who is held captive by the fearsome Ganon.
What I loved most was the open exploration of a vast world full of mysteries. Dense forests, dangerous mountains... every zone hides a secret entrance to a dungeon, and each dungeon holds a piece of the Triforce. It's a real challenge that requires thought, observation, and above all, passion.
Even years later, this first Zelda remains a timeless masterpiece, a cornerstone of video games that continues to inspire generations of gamers. If you're into retro gaming or curious to discover the origins of this legend, The Legend of Zelda is a must-play.
