Released in 2013 on Nintendo 3DS , The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a direct tribute to A Link to the Past, the iconic Super Nintendo entry. While the game world mirrors the 1991 Hyrule map, it offers a brand-new story and revolutionary gameplay allowing Link to turn into a painting to move along walls and explore new dimensions. You can find the game on the official Nintendo Australia page .
In this new adventure, Hyrule is once again threatened—this time by Yuga, an evil sorcerer who can turn people into paintings. His goal? To release Ganon and seize the Triforce.
Link, determined to stop him, discovers that Hyrule hides a parallel kingdom: Lorule, ruled by Princess Hilda. But she has a desperate plan: to save her realm by stealing Hyrule’s Triforce, even if it means destroying it…
The game’s development originally began as a remake of A Link to the Past, but Nintendo ultimately chose to craft a brand-new story while preserving the spirit of the original.
A fun detail: A Link Between Worlds introduces the first right-handed Link in 2D, a rare exception in a series where Link is usually left-handed.
