In the 1990s, Philips released three Zelda games on CD-i, the result of a licensing deal with Nintendo: Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon (1993), followed by Zelda’s Adventure (1994). Unlike official entries, these games were developed without Nintendo and are known for their controversial animated cutscenes and clunky gameplay.
Despite poor critical reception, these games have become rare collector’s items and a topic of fascination among Zelda fans, marking an unusual chapter in the history of The Legend of Zelda.
